South Kerry Development Partnership Ltd

South Kerry Development Partnership Ltd was set up in 1991 under the P.E.S.P in response to the economic and social problems in the South Kerry area. SKDP is an integrated Local Development Company which has Charitable Status and is publicly funded by the Irish Government & the EU. It administers a number of Irish Government & EU funded Rural Development Programmes.

The Board of Directors of the Partnership are made up of 23 voluntary members from the following sectors: Community, Social Partners, Statutory Agencies & Local Government. It employs 40 fulltime & part-time staff across its four offices in Caherciveen, Killorglin, Killarney & Kenmare.

The aim of South Kerry Development Partnership is to support & assist the creation of sustainable vibrant rural communities and improve the lives of the people living within them.

The three key pillars of Activity within the Partnership are:

  • Education & Training
  • Community Development

The EU funded Rural Development Programmes operated by SKDP Ltd are:

  • Collabor8
  • LEADER
  • Rural Alliance
  • NEES

Through Irish Exchequer funding the following Rural Development Programmes are operated:

  • Local & Community Development Programme
  • The Local Employment Service
  • Jobs Club
  • The TÚS Programme
  • Rural Recreation Officer & Walk Scheme
